About Dr. Urrea
Dr. Urrea a native of Los Angeles, CA received his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University and his medical degree from UCLA. He completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at Doheny Eye Institute/LA County - University of Southern California Medical Center and a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus from the Jules Stein Eye Institute.
Achievements and Recognition
Dr. Urrea became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons during convocation ceremonies at the College's recent 87th annual Clinical Congress in New Orleans, LA in October 2001. By meeting the College's stringent membership requirements, Fellows of the College earn the distinguished right to use the designation of "F.A.C.S." (Fellow, American College of Surgeons) after their names. As a Fellow Dr. Urrea has completed advanced training in Ophthalmic Surgery and has demonstrated ethical fitness and professional proficiency in his medical specialty.
Dr. Urrea has been designated a "Top Doctor" by his physician peers in the "Guide to Top Doctors" listing "15,000 Top-Rated Physicians in America's Largest Metropolitan Areas." The study identified which doctors are most highly recommended by other physicians.
Dr. Urrea was selected as one of "America's Top Ophthalmologists" for the years 2002-2003 by the Consumer Research Council of America. Dr. Urrea also serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.
